Miami's Vinyl Scene Is Bigger Than You Think

Miami has more digging spots than people give it credit for. Little Haiti, Wynwood, all the way out by the airport where we're set up now, there's a real scene if you know where to look.

We hear "vinyl records Miami" a lot from people who just moved here, or who are in town for a weekend and want to bring something home. So here's our honest take on what makes a digging trip worth it, not just at Lulo, anywhere in the city.

Ask how a shop grades its records

We grade everything we sell: Mint, Near Mint, Very Good Plus, and on down the line. It sounds like a small detail until you get a record home, drop the needle, and hear pops nobody mentioned. If a shop can't explain their grading on the spot, that's worth noting.

Our crates are split by genre with actual tabs on the shelves, which sounds obvious but a surprising number of shops just pile things by whatever came in that week.

What's usually in our bins

Latin, jazz, rock, electronic, funk and soul, disco. New arrivals come in constantly, so the bins shift week to week. We also keep a Japanese Pressing section going, which is its own kind of rabbit hole once you get into it.

Come dig in person

We're at 3475 NW 41st St now, right off the Airport Expressway (SR-112) at the NW 41st St interchange. Ten or fifteen minutes from Wynwood or Miami Beach depending on traffic. Flipping through records in person is a different experience than scrolling a website, even ours.
